F1 2009 PSP
Occasionally comes a game that just can not wait to play. For me that game F1 2009 for the PSP. It is the first game Official Formula One since 2007, when Studio Liverpool launched its interpretation of the sport.
Nov. 19 was the day I could finally play again with my favorite F1 drivers around some of the best tracks in the world. But was the wait worth it?
Presentation
The menus are very basic. First you need to enter your name, country and other relevant information that will represent you in online games and (more important) in career mode. The main menu shows a car in the background and the choices you have. You can play a quick race, weekend Grand Prix Championship world, the race, ad-hoc or challenges. Once you select a car in either mode, the car in the background will change to his team selected. This is a nice touch that can go a long way in the overall presentation. Before each race you can see parts of the track, similar to the official TV coverage. The graphics of the are very decent game. The cars look good and the tracks are built on the smallest detail. Although I have to admit that some topics are a little flat. The real problem is first when you start a race. Marcos take considerable success at the start of races and when large numbers of cars are close together. You will not notice this in practice or qualify – but it will compromise their racing experience. The sound is decent as well. I like the engine sounds better than previous titles in F1 PSP. But the sound activating the KERS is really fake and annoying. As music is the main menu.
Gameplay
The most important thing in a racing title is that it drives well. F1 2009 not in this department. All cars run over like crazy, a little touch of the directional buttons will enough to take the slower corners. This is worrisome because it makes small corrections are really difficult. I do not like the inclusion of KERS (push button for 7 seconds per lap) to all coaches in the game. In real life, only Ferrari and McLaren have used and it is unrealistic to see that each contestant F1 2009. After a couple of hours of driving we got used to the address that was great. But then came the AI. The team cars have a tendency to hit from behind. They are too aggressive. But apart from that we have little complaints about the cars computer. They can crash into the wall and make mistakes, like a real person. I was also surprised to see a car behind Brawn me crashing into the first corner the German GP.
Now I have to talk about the race, as this will be the place where you will spend most of their time at. A police contacts by email and keep you informed of developments in F1 and the evidence you have with other teams. At first you can test for BMW and Toro Rosso, not win a seat will give you a place in the team Force India. So you will not drive the Grand Prix 'matter what, you can not be a test driver. We appreciate this as most people only care about the race, but is simply another layer sunk in Formula 1, 2009. Other two complaints we have about the career mode is that emails are very static. They try to make it more realistic by saying things like: "Ferrari where there is no competition for the 2009 championship, but generally do not feel human. The other issue and we have with the final race is the fact that it takes only 3 seasons. When finished with the other two modes exciting career awaits. The first is the challenge mode, which attempts to overcome the challenges in bite-sized, like Hamilton or advance to overtake as many cars as possible. Works well on a portable system, but not drive a F1 fanatic like me. Ad-hoc not excite me though. You can drive a full season with a friend or anyone in the world. This is fun, but unfortunately I could not test this yet.
Compared with the past
It's hard not to compare this game for the last F1 game on the PSP system, which was F1 06. First, the graphics and sounds are slightly best in F1 2009, but that is not called an achievement that game came out three years later. F1 2009 seems more dynamic in terms of penalties and the rate of influenza influenza. Causing a collision can be obtained through a drive or stop and go. This is really nice and very realistic. Also the rate of AI is commendable. We found equipment to be faster curtain GP than in others. Ferrari was leading in China mid-field, but it was very competitive in Monaco. This is something we have not seen in F1 game before – ever! The timing is also improved in this game. Now his lap times compared to the fastest time as in real life. In F1 times were 06 in comparison with their own personal brand. F1 2006 is beat the game but when it comes to comments (F1 2009 does not) and the gameplay.
Conclusion
F1 2009 for the PSP has great potential. We love small details like the system of sanctions and the way the game manages time differences. Graphics are really nice and it's great to be finally playing with the latest cars and drivers. But severe cases loss of temper the gaming experience, and management is neither even close to what an F1 car like to drive.
